A shallow spot in the River Main is responsible for the name of the city of Frankfurt – it was here that the Franks crossed the river safely. First called “Franconofurd”, later “Furth der Francken”, the name changed over the centuries, through “Frankenfurt”, to today’s Frankfurt. Our city was first mentioned in documents in 794, was a Free Imperial City from the High Middle Ages, and later also the coronation and election city of the Roman German emperors. From the early 19th century, the Federal Assembly of the German Confederation, and shortly afterwards the first freely elected German parliament, were based in Frankfurt. During the Austro-Prussian War, Frankfurt am Main lost its independence as a city-state in 1866. From the late 19th century onwards, Frankfurt am Main exceeded 100,000 inhabitants and by 1928 already had more than 500,000. Since then, the metropolis on the Main has established itself as Germany’s financial centre, which also brought it into the focus of economic crime. Consequently, not only our private investigators are constantly in operation in Frankfurt, but also the investigators from the field of corporate investigations
Along the banks of the Main, art lovers will find a whole range of museums, including the German Architecture Museum, the Jewish Museum and the Historical Museum with the Children’s Museum. The promenades along the riverside and the bridges over the Main invite you to take a walk; they blend harmoniously into the surroundings, with modern buildings as well as historical structures. Yet even in such idyllic surroundings, our investigators in Frankfurt are frequently deployed on surveillance missions.
